EDS Edmonton is pleased to announce that a new partnership with West Edmonton Christian Assembly has been forged. On May 26, EDS Coordinator Jason Waters met with 16 interested individuals from the church to share information on EDS and volunteering with us. At the end of the evening 9 people had stepped forward as new volunteers.
This is a significant boost to the EDS volunteer base, although more volunteers are still needed.
A special thanks to Pastor Nancy who worked with EDS to arrange the information session and to promote EDS volunteer opportunities.

About EDS
EDS is a part of The Salvation Army's ministry in each community that we are a part of. In larger centres, such as Edmonton, it is sometimes possible for this area of ministry to operate on a larger scale, with full-time staff and specialized equipment.
In Edmonton, EDS focuses on two specific areas of service - Emergency Disaster Response and Street Ministry.
Emergency Disaster Response works with responders and victims of incidents such as house fires, floods, police responses (such as armed stand-offs or the 2006 Stanley Cup Playoffs). This is often our more visible activity, and it requires preparation and training.
Our street ministry is continuing to grow and develop. We are working towards building partnerships with churches and other groups to establish teams that can reach out to those in need in Edmonton's communities. Currently our canteen is in use by two groups who reach out to the inner-city and Whyte Avenue communities.
