Exercise at Airport

On Tuesday, September 18 Karen Diaper, Communications Officer with The Salvation Army's Public Relations Team, and Jason Waters, EDS Coordinator for Edmonton & Area, attended an exercise at the Edmonton International Airport in which Airport authorities and other responders and agencies rehersed their response to an airplane crash on airport property.
The Salvation Army EDS Team is a part of the airports emergency plan, and was invited to participate. The goals for EDS in this exercise were to practice escorting procedures for accessing the airport property where the Incident Command had been established.
Karen and Jason were able to observe responders as the rehersed their roles, including the arrival, landing, response and departure of the Stars Air Ambulance. The helicopter landed quite close to the EDS canteen as shown in the picture above.
